A Convergence of World Fashions

Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer has been one of the world's major apparel sourcing exhibitions . In 2009 a record-breaking 1,164 exhibitors from 24 countries and regions showcased a wide spectrum of products, ranging from mass merchandise in “Garment Mart” to high fashion, designers' collections and brand name labels in “Fashion Gallery”. Out of the 1,160-plus exhibitors, 482 came from Hong Kong and 682 from overseas and a total of 23, 873 trade buyers from 87 countries and regions attended the Spring/Summer 2009 edition. 

A total of 69 buying missions were organised, bringing in 2,196 select buyers from all over the world . Among them were buying representatives from well-known fashion brands, leading chain stores and distributors, including PAS Group (Australia), Pretty Girl Fashion Group (Australia), Marie-Claire (Canada), Paul Brial (France), ECRU (France), Idee+Spiel (Germany), Esprit (Germany), Mukai Co. Ltd (Japan), Wacoal Corporation (Japan), Adolfo Dominguez (Spain), Mango (Spain), Al Jeaidi Fashion (United Arab Emirates) and The Lady of the House (United States of America).

Major Exhibit Categories:

Brand Name Gallery and Intimate Wear Zone, alongside other product and thematic zones, were well-received by exhibitors, buyers and the press alike. The other zones included:

World of Fashion Accessories offered a heady array of fashion accessories on handbags, footwear, hats and scarves;
Infant & Children's Wear Zone was dedicated to the growing market demand for fashion for the younger set;
Fabrics & Yarn Zone presented cotton, embroidery, functional fabrics, knitted fabrics, linen, ramie, man-made fabrics, silk and wool, and various fibres and yarns;
Bridal & Evening Wear Zone placed the emphasis on elegance and sophistication with a bevy of beautiful outfits specifically designed for those most special occasions;
Fashion Gallery was home to designers and their new collections;
Garment Mart exhibited a wide array of high-volume merchandise; and
Sewing Supplies Zone showcased an extensive range of sewing accessories and notions, such as buttons, labels, zippers, lace and beads.

HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2010 is the ideal place for connecting with influential buyers. This important sourcing platform attracts attention from around the world, not only for the products on display but also because of the opportunity it offers for gathering information on trends and market developments. Proof of the drawing power comes from the last events' figures, which showed the participation of 1,164 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions.
